First Political Theory

The Thirteen Volumes

Thirteen volumes. One order of dependence. No conclusion permitted to arrive before its ground.

Dependency of the series

An ordered derivation

The thirteen-volume series advances through one governing order: every later conclusion remains answerable to the conditions that authorized it.

Each volume receives a determinate burden and opens the next question through the result it establishes. No volume may assume the conclusion of a later volume, and no later result may be installed as an earlier premise.

Volume 0 is the current book. Volumes 1–12 constitute the announced dependency architecture and will proceed in the order shown. Each later volume remains answerable to the results actually established before it.

Measure and Ground

  1. Volume 0

The Law of Nature: Foundation of Authority

    Current volume

Burden: Establishes the constitutive requirements of Human Binding Address and the Measure of its structural performance, distinguishing Constitutive Qualification from Counterfeit Address.

Opens: What could ground the right to bind that pure transmission presupposes?

  2. Volume 1

The Law of Nature and of Nature’s God

Burden: Investigates the ground of binding title and, independently, the explanation of dependent reality; then asks whether their ultimate explanatory roles converge.

Opens: Does reality contain a ground satisfying the profile established by those inquiries?

  3. Volume 2

    The Law of Nature’s God

Burden: Tests whether an actual ground fulfills the identified grounding roles and stands in the relation to human beings required for Final Title.

Opens: What makes the conditions sustaining human life and its powers objective human goods?

Architectonic movement

Goods, Covenant, and Self-Government

  1. Volume 3

    The Constitutive Human Goods

Burden: Follows Human Constitution into bodily integrity, material provision, generation, care, language, memory, and meaning, asking what makes their preservation good and how their claims are ordered.

Opens: How can agreement constitute and sustain a public order preserving those goods?

  2. Volume 4

    The Consent of the Governed

Burden: Investigates the covenantal public form of political order, including inheritance, representation, contest, and the standing of those who never made its founding agreement.

Opens: What personal government is required to inhabit and preserve that public form?

  3. Volume 5

    The Ethic of Self-Governance

Burden: Examines the government of judgment, desire, action, responsibility, discipline, and corruption within the self-governing human being.

Opens: How must finite agents seek, test, preserve, and correct the knowledge on which their government depends?

  4. Volume 6

    The Epistemology of Self-Governance

Burden: Examines how finite agents seek, receive, test, preserve, contest, and correct what they claim to know.

Opens: How do inherited political and constitutional claims stand under the completed prior architecture?

Justice and Revelation

  1. Volume 7

Just Power and the Declaration of Independence

Burden: Turns the prior architecture upon political justice and the American founding, placing the Declaration and Constitution before the same inquiry into address and title.

Opens: Does human Public Reason require revelation to preserve its necessary conditions?

  2. Volume 8

    Revelation and Public Reason

Burden: Investigates whether Public Reason requires revelation, what assistance would be required, and what would qualify as supplying it.

Opens: Under what conditions can a particular claim of revelation enter historical testing?

  3. Volume 9

    Revelation in History

Burden: Derives the conditions under which a claimed revelation may enter serious historical testing without sacred status or institutional continuity certifying the claimant.

Opens: Does any actual revelatory claimant survive the comparative measure?

  4. Volume 10

    E Pluribus Unum

Burden: Confronts the plurality of actual revelatory claimants through comparative judgment without selective exemption or evidentiary manipulation.

Opens: Do the traditions carrying a surviving revelation preserve or distort its order?

Interpretation and Final Synthesis

  1. Volume 11

    The New Age of Reason

Burden: Investigates the interpretation of a surviving revelation and the ways literalism, institutional capture, faction, inherited Power, or closure can distort it.

Opens: What follows from everything that survives the complete derivation?

  2. Volume 12

    Novus Ordo in Saecula Saeculorum

Burden: Receives what survives the preceding inquiry and brings Nature, God, authority, human goods, covenant, self-government, knowledge, justice, revelation, interpretation, and civilization into one order of dependence.

    Completes: The thirteen-volume derivation.

After the derivation

The final order

The final order is disclosed only if the complete derivation survives.

Belief, vote, inheritance, preference, recognition, and institutional success do not create the conclusion. Every surviving result must remain answerable to the order that authorized it.
